Cajeput is a big tree producing a rare essential oil, appreciated for its beneficial action upon the Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) area.
From the myrtaceae family, Cajeput oil is produced by steam distillation of fresh leaves of the cajeput tree (Melaleuca cajuputii). Cajeput oil is used in food and as a medicine.
Cajeput (Melaleuca cajuputii) is a relative to Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) and Niaouli (Melaleuca quinquenervia).

Cajeput also goes by the names of cajuput, kajuput, melaleuca cajuputi, and minyak kayu putih.
Cajeput Essential Oil is a must-have oil to keep on hand for cold and flu season, especially for use in the diffuser. When well diluted, it can be used topically at low dilution (1%) as there is some indication that it may cause skin irritation.
Cajeput oil is used for colds and congestion, headaches, toothache, skin infections, pain, and other conditions.
Eucalyptus oil is a better known essential oil. Cajeput oil has a similar scent to eucalyptus, which has a strong medicinal aroma.
Both are also used topically for antiseptic and analgesic purposes.
